A Laundry Basket That Gives Your Space Back
Most laundry baskets hold their shape whether they’re full or empty, which means they take up the same floor space all week long. In smaller homes, apartments, or laundry rooms, that footprint adds up fast. The SAMMART 42L Collapsible Plastic Laundry Basket is built around a simple fix: pop it up when you’re using it, and fold it flat when you’re not.
How the Collapsible Design Works
The basket opens to an expanded size of 22.8 x 17.5 x 10.6 inches, which gives you a full 42 liters (11 gallons) of capacity for laundry, toys, or clothes. When you’re done, it folds down to just 2.7 inches tall, saving over 70% of its storage space. That means it can slide into a closet, behind a door, or under a shelf without blocking your walkway.
The design is covered by patents US 9,926,105 B2, DE 20 2014 101 047 U1, and ZL 2014 1 0386688.1. All the walls and angles stand relatively straight and without deforming, so it holds its shape while in use instead of sagging or buckling.
Practical Features for Busy Households
The basket is BPA free and includes comfort grip handles for easy carry, even when it’s loaded up. Because it works as both a laundry hamper and a general storage container, it’s a flexible pick for toys, clothes, or keeping things organized in the trunk of your car.

What the Reviews Show
The SAMMART 42L holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating from 17,292 reviews. That’s a strong signal from a large group of shoppers, and the rating lines up with the product’s core promise: a basket that’s easy to open, easy to carry, and easy to tuck away when it’s not needed.
Who It’s Best For
This basket suits anyone short on storage space, including apartment dwellers, dorm residents, and families who want a hamper that disappears when it’s empty. It’s also a practical option for organizing kids’ toys or keeping a car trunk tidy. If you’ve been frustrated by a bulky basket that never moves out of the way, the collapsible format is the main reason to consider it.
